SNAP Income Test

All households except categorically eligible must pass the net income test. A household is eligible for benefits when the household’s verified income, deductions, exclusions and expenses are equal to or less than the limits for the household size.
Categorical Eligibility (CE) Test
  • Court ordered child support expenses
  • Farm loss
  • Standard Income Deduction
  • Earned Income Deduction
  • Student/Self Employment Income Expenses
  • Excess Shelter or Homeless Deduction
  • Dependent Care Expenses
  • Medical Expenses
Only categorically eligible households net income can meet the CE income limits based on household size. If the CE household’s verified income, deductions, exclusions and expenses are equal to or less than the CE limits for the household size, they are eligible for benefits.

Completed for all applications budgets, adding a person, and budgets to determine needy/not needy for non-parent caretaker relatives (NPCR) and/or legal guardians – includes all income used in the gross income test minus a standard work expense and allowable dependent care expenses (where applicable)

Grant Amount Test

34.526% of the Temporary Assistance Consolidated Standard
