TA Drug Testing Re-Referral Process

When FAMIS determines that a participant must submit to a drug test, the participant is referred through an overnight batch to the drug testing vendor. Once the referral is received, it is the drug testing vendor’s responsibility to contact the participant and notify them of the date, time and location of the drug test.

There are times when the address FAMIS sends to the drug testing vendor is not a good address, for various reasons. If the drug testing vendor is unable to locate a participant, the message ‘UNABLE TO LOCATE’ in pink displays on the TA Drug Testing Detail (FMNC) screen.

BPTs and supervisors receive a reminder that displays “unable to locate” when the TA Drug Testing Detail (FMNC) screen is updated with ‘UNABLE TO LOCATE’ from the drug testing vendor. The reminder remains on the Alert/Reminder (ALREMIND/FM7M) until the reminder is satisfied.

Check the Supercase Member Clearance (SCMBR/FM0E) screen and the Person Detail (PRSNDTL/FM0I) screen to make sure the address in the system is correct, or if the address has been updated since the drug testing referral was sent. Check the Referral Sent Date on the TA Drug Testing Detail (FMNC) screen. You may need to access the HISTORY to see when the original referral was sent. To check the HISTORY:

  • Select the referral from SELDTREF and press F6=DETAILS
  • Press F14=HISTORY to flow to the TA DRUG TESTING HISTORY screen. All updates to the SELDTREF display, with the most recent update listed first.

If questionable, contact the participant to confirm their address.

When a new address is not available, take the next appropriate case action, which may be initiating case closure.

When you have a new address and need to update the drug testing vendor, follow these steps:

STEP 1
Fastpath to the Select TA Drug Testing Referral (SELDTREF/FMN2) screen.
STEP 2
Select the open referral and press F6=DETAILS to go to the TA Drug Testing Detail (FMNC) screen.
STEP 3
Press F20=RREF.
The system sends the new address via overnight batch to the drug testing vendor.
The pink “UNABLE TO LOCATE” notification goes away.
STEP 4
After the overnight batch process, the TA Drug Testing Detail screen displays a date in the Re-Referral Date field.
