Work Activity Participation and COMPACT User Guides
The participation requirement is 20 to 30 hours per week, depending on household composition, and for two-parent households a combined 55 hours per week. Fewer hours are required for EUs with children under age 6.
Participation in Work Activity involve:
- Requirements for Work Activity Participants:
- Register with Division of Workforce Development on jobs.mo.gov
- Referral to MWA
- Meet with MWA case manager and participate in assigned work activities OR provide documentation to support any claim of exemption or exclusion
- Continue work activity participation each week as required
- Supports available from MWA:
- Development of a service/employability plan
- Job readiness work shop activities
- Skills Training
- Assistance with locating child care providers
- Vocational skill set assessments
- Job search assistance
- Job development
- Development of work experience or transitional job opportunities
- Authorization of transportation reimbursement and/or work related expenses.

- Temporary Assistance
- Food Stamps
- MO HealthNet for Families
- Supports available from DESE:
- Child Care
For employed participants, work hours must be verified and entered on the COMPACT screen in the ‘Weekly Hours’ field. These entries allow tracking of compliance with the Work Activity Requirement, and impact eligibility for the Transitional Employment Benefit. Update Weekly Hours and verification any time earnings or employment change. Failure to do so can result in lost benefits for the EU.

- If employed – Enter weekly hours worked. If weekly hours fluctuate enter average calculated using pay stubs. If verification is not provided, enter based on participant’s statement.

- Ver – Enter how Weekly Hours are verified.
- Ver Date – Date verification of Weekly Hours is received by the agency.
