When an authorized representative applies for a household (EU), verify both the representative’s and the applicant’s identity

Must live in Missouri

AKA DUPLICATE PARTICIPATION

People may only draw SNAP benefits from one state at a time

DECLARATIONS

A person may not be eligible for SNAP benefits if s/he:

  • Is convicted of buying or selling SNAP benefits
  • Is a fleeing felon
  • Is violating probation or parole
  • Is making a fraudulent statement about identity or residence to receive duplicate benefits
  • Has a felony drug conviction
  • Is convicted of intentional SNAP fraud
  • Is disqualified for trading SNAP benefits for guns, ammunition or explosives
  • Is disqualified for trading SNAP benefits for drugs
  • Is convicted of federal aggravated sexual abuse, murder, sexual exploitation and abuse of children, sexual assault, or similar state laws, who is not in compliance with the terms of their sentence or parole
SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER
Each household member must supply his/her Social Security Number or apply for one

ELIGIBLE STUDENTS

Students in higher education have to meet eligible student criteria

CITIZENSHIP/ IMMIGRANT STATUS
Must be a citizen of the United States or an eligible immigrant

CATEGORICAL ELIGIBILITY

A household is categorically eligible if the household receives, or is authorized for, certain programs or supportive services

Categorically Eligible (CE) households are not subject to the same resource maximums, income tests and verification requirements as other households

One or two person CE households are entitled to the minimum allotment

ELDERLY/ DISABLED

Household members who are elderly or disabled:

  • Are only subject to the net income test
  • Have a higher resource limit
  • May qualify for an excess medical deduction
JOB QUIT/WORK REDUCTION
People who voluntarily quit a job or reduce their work hours, without good cause, may not be eligible

SKILLUP

AKA WORK REGISTRATION

Individuals, ages 16 -59, who are job ready and not exempt, are registered for work

ABAWD (ABLE BODIED ADULTS WITHOUT DEPENDENTS)

AKA WORK REQUIREMENT

Individuals, ages 18-52, who are not exempt, must train, work or volunteer 80 hours a month

RESOURCES

$3000 maximum; or $4500 if an household member is age 60 or older or meets the SNAP definition of disabled

GROSS INCOME LIMITS

To be eligible the household’s gross income must be less than the allowable limit.

Some households are not subject to this limit

NET INCOME LIMITS

To be eligible the household’s net income must be less than the allowable limit.

Some categorically eligible households are not subject to this limit

Net income is used to determine benefit amount
