How Do I Know: Has an Applicant/Participant been Determined to be Disabled

Why This Is Important: When FSD determines an applicant/participant is disabled per the Social Security Office (SSA/SSI) or Medical Review Team (MRT), this in entered in FAMIS on the DISABLED screen.

  1. From the FAMIS Main Menu screen type the fastpath FAMISPAR or FM0D on the command line.
  2. Press CTRL key
  3. Tab down to either the SSN or DCN fields and enter the appropriate number. If you use the DCN, FAMIS uses a 10-digit number. You will need to add two leading zeros to the 8-digit DCN. Press CTRL.

  1. Select the MA EU and type the fastpath DISABLED on the command line and press

  1. The DISABLED screen shows Tasha has been determined disabled due to receiving Social Security Disability. She has the code SSD as Reason for Disability and Hard Copy (HC) as verification (Ver). If the verification code is not HC, FSD has not verified the applicant/participant is disabled.

  1. Use the code table below to understand what FSD entered in the Disabled Reason field

  1. If you would like to view more detailed information regarding an MRT decision, select the applicant and press F15=MRTINFO

  1. Reading the MRTINFO screen below, from left to right you can see
    • The program MRT made a decision on. The most recent decision will be listed first
    • Submit Date =The date medical records were first sent to the MRT doctors to review
    • Elig = MRT determined the applicant/participant is eligible yes (Y) or no (N) not eligible
    • Decision Date= The date MRT made a final decision
    • PQ = The applicant was approved for Prior Quarter coverage(Y) or was not approved for Prior Quarter coverage (N)
    • SGA = Substantial Gainful Activity. You will see a Y in this field if the applicant was medically approved for MHABD but has income over the current SGA amount. You will see an N in this field if the applicant was rejected by MRT due to a reason other than SGA.
    • Waived = A Y in this field indicates MRT has waived future medical reviews for the applicant/participant
    • Review Mths Date = the date the participants next medical review is due.
    • Disability Start and End Dates = The date MRT determined the applicant/participant begins medical eligibility and the date this determination ends
