Age of Child
REQUIREMENT:
Information about the date of birth is generally collected at the beginning of the application process in FAMIS when searching for or assigning a DCN. Details and verification of the age information are entered into FAMIS on the Birth/Death (FAMQ/BIRTH) screen during the controlled flow.
At application, establish that the child meets age guidelines:
- Children under age 18 who meet all other eligibility factors qualify for Temporary Assistance.
- Children who are age 18 and meet the school attendance guidelines qualify for Temporary Assistance.
NOTE: For Temporary Assistance, an entry is required on the Birth/Death Information screen in the ‘Parents married at birth (Y/N)’ field.
VERIFICATION:
Verify the age of the child by document such as: birth certificate; IBTH; church record; family Bible; hospital certificate; census record; school record; insurance policy; or other appropriate documents.
