Teen Parent
REQUIREMENT:
A Minor Parent (under the age of 18) who is not married must live with his/her own parent(s) or in another adult supervised supportive living arrangement. Several requirements in the Temporary Assistance program apply only to parents under the age of 18.
Does the Minor Parent reside in an eligible living arrangement? See Minor Parent in an Adult Supervised Setting.
If the Minor Parent does not reside in any of the allowable living arrangements, does the Minor Parent meet an exception? See Exceptions to Minor Parent Living Arrangement.
If the Minor Parent doesn’t reside in an eligible living arrangement or meet an exception see Minor Parent Not in an Adult Supervised Living Arrangement.
All teen parents without a high school diploma or the equivalent are required to participate in education as their required work activity. During summer vacations, teen parents must participate in other work activities. See 4.13.7 Work Participation – Teen Parents subsection.
Eligibility determination for Minor Parents living with their own parents requires FSD to assess this parental income. See Deeming of Income for information on deeming parental income.

Verification of Good Cause for exception to this requirement, including a written statement from the applicant to explain.
