DSS Common Area Screens #
The Common Area is a computer region of the Department of Social Services (DSS). All divisions within it use the Common Area to create and maintain DCNs (also known as Departmental Client Numbers). A change made in the Common Area reverberates to all departments and divisions using the numbers. You may occasionally see a client’s name change when you did not make the change. Perhaps they have accessed services from the Department of Health and Senior Services or another division, but have not yet notified you of the name change.
